Indications
West Coast Laser offers cutting edge technology to treat almost every indication. Please select one of the indications below or in the box to the right to view the aesthetic systems appropriate to treat patients with that indication.
Acnean inflammatory disease involving sebaceous glands of the skin; characterized by papules or pustules or comedones. Often referred to as a "breakout" on the body. Most common in adolescence, but also occurs in infants and adults.

Acne Scar Reduction
Scars that are due to the non-treatment of acne over years can be reduced or minimized by treatments that "peel" layers of skin and may or may not promote a collagenesis response in the treatment area.

Acquired nevi reduction
Nevus are a conglomeration of melanocytes normally located in the basal layers of the epidermis. They may appear in the form of Junctional, Compound, Intradermal and Intramucosal nevus and may be light to dark in color. These skin lesions are not present at birth but appear over time. Birthmarks and moles are considered nevi.

Age spots
Lentigines - also referred to as age spots, liver spots or freckles. Flat, light to dark brown spots on the body that are caused by sun damage.
View Age spots treatment technologies
Birthmark reduction
Port Wine Stain (PWS) also referred to as birthmarks that appear reddish in color.
Small to large areas of blood vessels that appear as if wine was spilled on the body and absorbed into the tissue. Treatments are gradual and will require multiple treatments at appropriate treatment levels.

Cellulite body sculpting
The remodeling of cellulite tissue through invasive and non invasive techniques that are designed to help minimize the appearance of cellulite in the body tissue.
View Cellulite body sculpting treatment technologies
Collagen stimulation
Inducing the body to stimulate new collagen growth in specific areas in response to the heat applied.
View Collagen stimulation treatment technologies
Freckles
Lentigines also referred to as age spots, livers spots and freckles. Tiny brown or yellowish spots on the body.
View Freckles treatment technologies
Hair reduction
Gradual reduction of the hair in a given treatment area. The results may or may not be permanent.
View Hair reduction treatment technologies
Keloid scar reduction
A keloid is an abnormal response to an injury on the body where excessive amounts of collagen are produced and cause the scar to bulge. Treatments will soften the scar appearance and eliminate the "bulging" response.

Leg Veins
Unwanted purple and red lines on the legs. Not the bulging, raised vessels referred to as varicose veins.
View Leg Veins treatment technologies
Line and wrinkle reduction
Treatments that will target specific lines and wrinkles through collagen stimulation at the site. May induce a tightening effect. Pore shrinkage may also occur. See collagen stimulation.

Melasma
Dark, localized areas of the skin similar to café au lait. A type of common nevi. It may be a response to birth control pills by women and may be exacerbated by sun exposure. It is a dermal pigmented lesion that can not be treated by IPL devices.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
A patient is given a light sensitive drug to take orally or apply topically. The drug is designed to be absorbed by body tissue and used to regenerate cells (grow). Tissue that grows abnormally will absorb the drug faster than normal tissue. Light is then shown on the abnormally growing tissue and will be destroyed.

Photo Rejuvenation
Skin rejuvenation techniques that utilize light to stimulate collagen growth and reduce pore size. See skin rejuvenation.

Poikiloderma
A mottled appearance of red and brown tissue that may have areas of raised and flat regions. Common on sun exposed areas such as the neck or chest.

Pre/post liposuction treatment
Pre- liposuction treatments are designed to assist the surgeon in removing the adipose (fat) tissue in a patient. Post- liposuction treatments are designed to allow a physician to remodel (shape) the areas that have been treated to optimize results.

Psoriasis
Dry, scaly, red patches of skin covered with a white or silver appearance of the scales.
View Psoriasis treatment technologies
Scar revision
The process of minimizing the noticeable appearance of a scar. Tissue remodeling that allows the tissue to re-heal and the site to appear as though no abnormal change has occurred.
View Scar revision treatment technologies
Skin rejuvenation
Rejuvenate the skin through light, heat and/or vibration that will allow a smoother texture change to the skin. May induce a tightening effect. Pore shrinkage may also occur.
View Skin rejuvenation treatment technologies
Slimming
Techniques designed to allow tissue remodeling effects to slim the appearance of the patient.
View Slimming treatment technologies
Stretch marks
Striae - Localized areas of skin that get stretched due to quick growth of underlying tissue that will eventually turn white over time.
View Stretch marks treatment technologies
Tattoo reduction
Gradual treatments allow the tattoos to become reabsorbed by the body as the ink is targeted and destroyed by the laser. The tattoo will fade after the first treatment, but multiple treatments may be required.

Telangiectasia
Tiny red lines on the face or body that branch out from a localized spot(s) like the branching of a tree
View Telangiectasia treatment technologies
Tissue toning
Techniques designed to tighten the tissue and revitalize the appearance of the tissue in a treatment area.

- Leg
- Facial
- Rosacea, matted telangiectasia
- Angioma
- Venous Lake
- Hemangiomas
- PWS

Vitiligo
A loss of pigment in an area of skin that appears as a bleaching of the skin.

Wart removal
Local round, raised, scaly spots that are caused by a virus and can be removed by many methods.

Fractional Resurfacing
A process of laser resurfacing that creates microthermal vaporization zones of the epidermis and leaves areas of untreated tissue to promote a healing response that is much shorter than conventional laser resurfacing treatments. A series of laser spots cover an area of epidermal tissue, similar to a printing process that uses the pixels of an ink jet printer or newspaper printing device, leaving untreated tissue between the spots.
Fractional resurfacing is often referred to as "Fraxel" due to the marketing machine that has created a "buzz word" in the English lexicon. There are several types of fractional devices and the idea to "fractionate" energy delivery to the tissue using a laser is not limited to ablative devices such as the CO2, but can be used with non ablative modalities as well.

Micro Laser Peel
Micro laser peels involve using a laser device to peel superficial lasers of skin.
Similar to a TCA or glycolic peel using a laser light device.
View Micro Laser Peel treatment technologies
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion involves the removal of epidermal tissue by mechanical means. Crystal and crystal-free devices and methods are available that use a silica based gel, diamond tip, saline or other mechanical means can be employed to exfoliate tissue.
Dermaplaning in the process of using a scalpel to scrape off epidermal tissue.

Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is the process that employs a CO2 laser or Erb:YAG to reduce wrinkles, skin texture, pore size, dyschromia and sun damage by vaporizing the epidermis and stimulating the dermis to produce collagen and rejuvenate the skin.
